I am new to FreeNas, and I want to thank you guys for help us out (new users)
I am trying to figure out the best solution and/or performance/security and stability,
I am building the following system:
Processor: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2680 (12) Core 2.5Ghz
Memory: 256GB DDR4
Boot Hard Drive: 2x 64GB SATADOM (mirror boot)
Hard Drives: QTY 16x 8TB SATA HD 6GB/s 7200
Controller: QTY 1x AOC-S3008L-8Le 12GB/s HBA Controller
NIC: * Integrated Intel X540 Quad Port 10GBase-T Onboard
4 x 4 TB RAIDZ2 (VDevs)
Sharing NFS (to apache server)
1) I will also have a backup freenas (not sure rsync is the best choice), does the backup has to have the same configuration of the main freenas? can I use one single vdevs mirror 0
2) what disk you believe has a better performance and stability (4k or 512e):
Seagate Enterprise ST8000NM0045 (Exos Enterprise)
or
Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC320 HUS728T8TALE6L4
Can the ZFS Intent Log (ZIL) be on a sata or has to be a ssd (2TB is ok?)?
Do I need to use an L2ARC or if I add an extra memory is a better solution?
