I just wanted to say hello to the community. I've been using FreeNAS at home for a while now as a backup server in my home lab. Recently I have been testing FreeNAS as a VM in my work lab as a possible backup pool to sync our business backups to the cloud.
I have a decent length career in several different tech fields from HAL and Driver programming all the way to my current position to server and virtualization management. If there is an enterprise OS I've probably used it at some point with exception to old IBM mainframe, but I did use VAX in college. I love technology and fiddle with it all the time. I use a Spartan approach to information systems to keep them simple, secure and stable. I don't like taking the easy path if there is a better yet more complex efficient path.
