Hey, I have created a Volume and changed the permissions to a speffic group. But when I create a user account and set the home /mnt/Storage2TB/Movies/ it errors in ftp client. On the server I can see this:
Sep 10 16:21:29 freenas proftpd[22571]: 127.0.0.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.24[::ffff:192.168.1.24]) - notice: unable to use '~/' [resolved to '/mnt/Storage2TB/Movies/']: Permission denied
Sep 10 16:21:29 freenas proftpd[22571]: 127.0.0.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.24[::ffff:192.168.1.24]) - chroot to '~/' failed for user 'movies': Operation not permitted
Sep 10 16:21:29 freenas proftpd[22571]: 127.0.0.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.24[::ffff:192.168.1.24]) - error: unable to set default root directory

Any Idea how to solve this?
I have tried a clean install but nothing happens.
My sys info: FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE-p2
FreeNAS Build FreeNAS-8.0.1-RC1-amd64 (7508)

First thing, are you sure you entered the path in the users account properly? I'm sure it's incorrect and remember it is case sensitive. My path to the movies folder on my system is "/mnt/farm/movies" and it goes in the user setup.
Leave the FTP settings at default values and then enable it.

I can't speak to RC1 but build 7652 works fine and I don't think there have been any ftp related changes since RC1 but I could be wrong. I also use Filezilla but even IE works providing it doesn't cache an old password.

well read the error. it says it cannot use ~/ because for that user it resolves to /mnt/Storage2TB/Movies and the user does not have permissions to access that folder.

so the user 'movies' does not have permissions for or to /mnt/Storage/2TB.

what are the permissions for that folder, and all of it's parent folders.

I created the same error message when I intentionally changed the path name by one letter. I'm not saying it isn't a permissions issue, could be. Mine was just an example.
