I have performed the following steps and am confronted by the plexmediaserver "No Soup For You" error. Please help.

1) Using the GUI (FreeNAS-11.2-U7) I remove the existing plex Plugin installation and verify that "jails" in iocage is empty.

Here is my Storage Pool with no jails:

2) I go to the Plugins menu, select Available, filter for "plex", left-click the three stacked dots next to the Plex Media Server listing and select "Install."

3) I leave the default Plugin Name of "plexmediaserver" and DHCP is selected by default. I click "Save." (wait for install to complete)

4) I go to the Jails menu, left click the three dots next to the new plex jail and select "Shell". I use the resulting shell to access the plex jail and create destination directories:

5) I stop the plex Plugin. Then, I add the two mount points to the plex Jail, connecting the /mnt/movies and /mnt/music jailed directories to their respective /mnt/tank/media datasets.

6) I restart the plex Plugin and wait 5 minutes. I left click on the three dots next to the plex Plugin and select "Management:"

I sign in to my Plex account, as prompted. and I immediately see the "No Soup For You" error message.

I have verified in the plex jail, that the mount is successful and the permissions match in both locations.

I have been trying this every which way I can find on line and none of the suggestions have helped.

Thank you, in advance, for any assistance.

Seems there was an issue for me getting this a ways back, what I always did was logout within the plex web interface and immediately log back in... Seems there was a token mismatch or something. Give that a try.

I'm having the same trouble and I've tried installing plex media server every which way i can following several tutorials. It won't allow it. I can use a freenas vm and I can add the server at that point but not through a plugin/jail. I thought maybe it was a iocage issue but I have yet to figure out how to pin point the issue.

Hi everybody,

Install FreeNAS 11.3 RC2 (or newer) Plex plugin with static IP address. These notes are not scientifically proven but reproducible for myself to create a PMS.

Create user ‘plex’ with ID 972 at Primary Group ‘wheel’. The Plex plugin allways uses this user in it’s jail with corresponding userid. You need this user at the next step.

At the Dataset where the media is located, choose edit ACL. Under File Information choose User -> plex and Group -> wheel. Check Apply permissions recursively. Confirm, Continue, Save.

Install Plex plugin with DHCP settings. Just enter the name of the jail and there you go. Just accept DHCP because static IP address is not possible initially to get it right. You can change the IP config later to static IP. The Plex plugin with it’s jail will be started after install automatically.

Stop the Plex jail
Edit the Plex jail

Basic properties:
· Uncheck DHCP Autoconfigure IPv4
· Leave VNet checked
· Leave Berkely checked
IP4 interface: leave ----------------
IP4 address: (free IP address for your Plex jail)
IP4 netmask: (your netmask)
Default router: (your gateway)
· Leave Autostart checked

Jail properties:
· Check Allow raw sockets

Network properties:
· Leave all unchanged

Custom properties:
· Leave all unchanged

Save settings
Start the jail to check if it’s working

If yes:
Stop the jail again
Create mountpoints
Start the jail

Now you’ve created the dependencies for the Plex web gui. At this gui you can create your media entrances without errors ‘no soup for you’ or ‘no items available.

Regards, R.

I have been struggling to get my system back up again. I have had Plex working in a Jail under 11.2 for some time. One day the server could not be seen by plex, I added the IP of the name server and everything was fine for awhile. Then again the server could not be found. The FREENAS files storage is seen by all my Win 10 machines, but the plex web page cannot see the server. I have deleted the Jail and tried to reinstall PLEX but no joy. I brought up a nearly identical systems and installed PLEX. that seems to be OK. There is a gremlin here. Here is a dump of the ifconfig command output. I have a 1Gb network card and 6x10Gb Melanox cards. I temporarily took out the bridge creation script to simplify things until it is working again. I rebooted without the script to make this output. This was working well for a long time. Please take a look. I really need some help. I do not understand wiy bridge0 is showing up in the ifconfig as disabled the startup script.

Hi ZiggyGT,

Though I don't have the skills to analyse the ifconfig, it could be a networking issue. I've read some other threads in the past. The subnet of the jail must be the same as the subnet of the Freenas server.
