Hello. Need to organize file storage. I heard that FreeNAS, like ZFS, is not recommended for use on hardware RAID controllers. A Dell T620 server with Perc H710 RAID controller is available. Of course, this raid cannot transfer disks directly without creating Raid. What is the best thing to do in my case? Do you chop 4 Raid0 and give them to FreeNAS? Or is it not so scary to use FreeNAS over RAID-6?

You could flash your H710 to IT mode following these directions:

But you're probably better off selling the H710, getting an "actual HBA" to flash, and pocketing the change.

Yeah, no. Not only does that not apply to the H710, the results on the H730 and H740 models are pitifully slow.
