Since I performed the SMART disable on each drive individually, I have not had a random reboot (8 days and counting). The average was 36 hours between reboots before performing this action.

Add me to the list with this problem. I have 2 SSD's attached to the mb 3008 controller. Errors and reset after a while. Disabled SMART on the SSD's and problem is gone.

Unfortunately, to turn off SMART on a production system is far from ideal. Hoping for a fix soon.

I think i'm running into this as well with Barracuda Pro 4tb drives. During smart tests we have had drives drop out. The drive pass smart tests and any long tests we throw at them.

Thinking about just downgrading all our servers to 11.2 as it was perfectly stable.

Well, this is weird.

I have a server at work with an SAS3008. 12 WD Red 10 TBs and two Crucial MX500s, all attached to an SAS3-EL1 backplane because the Supermicro reseller figured I'd want to boot from SAS (I do not, but I did not have the materials at hand to rewire them to SATA before the server had to be shipped off to its remote location).

Thing is, it's rock solid. Zero issues. And SMART is enabled for the boot disks, too. So I was rather surprised to see that 11.3-U2 included an emergency patch for LSI SAS3.

we're updating to to 11.3-U2 to try it out. You are lucky you didn't have any problems. we had drive dropping out for no reason due to smart testing.

I have "unexpected reboot" on a H220 HBA. I get some unexpected reboots - yesterday I got twice.
Any way to find the cause? How can I get some data showing why the system went down?

I am running 11.3-U3.2

For those affected, iX has made available an updated firmware by Broadcom: https://www.ixsystems.com/community/resources/lsi-9300-xx-firmware-update.145/

Full disclosure: I'm not running it. The system I manage has always been rock-solid throughout the 11.3 series and I'm running IT firmware 16.00.10.00 with 16.00.00.00 UEFI extension ROM but no BIOS extension ROM installed.
That said, if you're having trouble with your current setup, it's worth a try.

Sorry to move this thread back up! But Im getting crashes with no logs or kernel messages and Im not sure how to debug/RTFM...
The total crash happen when there is pool activity so I suspect the HBA.
I have 6 SSD 870QVO on the 9300-8i.

Running the latest CORE:
FreeBSD truenas.test.lan 13.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE n245376-eba770b30ff TRUENAS amd64

Im I seeing the same bug?

I see you have old firmware on the HBA
Good place to start would be update to the 16.00.12.00 from here https://www.truenas.com/community/resources/lsi-9300-xx-firmware-update.145/
