System just Restarted with Unauthorized system reboot. System is on a UPS.

Looking for reasons why. Looked in /var/log all of the log files were recreated as of this boot.

Does freenas clear the /var/log directory upon reboot?

Are the historic logs located somewhere else?

It should be in there. I just had an unauthorized system reboot too due to a kernel panic.

Grabbed a copy of the /var/log directory and found the panic from earlier in the messages log.

You might have to extract one of the messages.x.bz2 files found in the same directory, those are the archived/historic ones.

I was expecting a messages.x.bz2 also. but its not there. All the files in /var/log start today.

Did you get an unauthorised reboot email? I logged a job for this notification over a year ago....
