I Have just set up my first FreeNAS server to use with my Macbook.
Because my wife has a tendancy to turn off the computer i have a little app to use wake up on LAN to turn them on from my laptop.

To use this for my new FreeNAS machine i will need the mac address - does anyone know how i find the mac address of the FreeNAS server ?

Go to the "shell" on the server. Either from the server itself or SSH into it. And, run ifconfig

or type 'arp -a' in a terminal on your osx. If you have used the freenas the last 5 minutes it should show up
with name ( ip ) and mac address :
fnas.***.se (192.168.99.4) at d4:85:64:6a:a4:7c on en0 ifscope [ethernet]
