Empty or non-existent mountpoint after zfs replication

I was a week late to get back with debug logs and the status was changed to "Engineering Closed", so I suppose it was never investigated. I worked around it by putting the replicated datasets inside a dataset on the receiving end and not have that one mounted at all.
