Hi,

I have a system that I was using for a while and then I started getting SMART errors on one of the drives, so I copied all of the files to another location and shut the FreeNAS box down.

Well, due to some stupidity and being in a hurry, I wound up deleting a lot of the files from my backup of the FreeNAS box.

So, I fired the box back up, but it shows both of the drives as missing. I know that the drives are spinning up and they are properly recognized by the BIOS.

How can I get FreeNAS to recognize the drives again AND keep the data on the drives?

Oh, the drives are two 500GB models in a JBOD configuration.

TIA for any and all help!

Hi Sailing_Nut,

Since you are using JBOD and it appears one of your drives has failed or is failing there is little hope it will ever mount in FreeNAS. The best and easiest route is to use data recovery software to copy as much data from these drives as possible. Please read HELP PLS.... error-retry on remounting Disk for JBOD You will find the problem is similar to yours and there is information there about what software you can use to recover your data.

Regards,
Al
