Are you sure about those Seagate BarraCuda drives being 5400rpm? The 4TB one I bought recently is 5980rpm.

I just took a look at the Seagate website and they do not say. I checked a couple other places and I cannot find the reference to RPM. I get this type of spec from manufacturers web site, normally. They do mention Pro is 7200 RPM.

There are two different manuals available. One from 2016 and the other from 2017.

The 2017 does not have the 1TB drive, but has the 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB. There is no mention of spindle speed at all in this manual.

The 2016 has the 3TB, 2TB, 1TB and 500GB and lists them at 7200 RPM.

I went with the 2017 manual thinking it was more current. Maybe I was wrong? Not sure off hand.

I will dig around this more. I noticed that seek and latency speeds went up higher for the 2017 manual.

So the question is, which manual is correct.

I will see what I can dig up.

NOTE that the 2TB drive I bought recently is an ST2000DM006, whereas that June 2017 manual give the specs. for the ST2000DM005. And my 4TB drive is an ST4000DM005, whereas the manual gives the specs. for the ST4000DM004.

LOL! Welcome to my world. It makes no sense to remove 7200 RPM in docs, unless they planned on something. I cannot find where I got the 5400 RPM spec now any more either. I will leave it as is for a while. Your information makes me lean towards putting 7200 into the spreadsheet, but I like to be able to say the latest spec says... I cannot do that right now!

Starting to add Graphs and pivot table information

Here are the latest changes:

• Added more disk drives
• Updated prices on various drives
• Updated some specs that were wrong and/or changed
• Added a worksheet that has some pivot tables along with a graphic. I will be adding more in this area as time goes on.
  The goal is to make buying decisions easier.
• Work on adding some more tables/graphs for other specifications that make it easier to see and understand the numbers, which will hopefully make better buying decisions for...

You are correct. I am not sure how that happened. I am guessing Cut/Paste. I checked the spec sheets and the P series goes to 3TB and X goes from 4-8TB. Thanks for catching that!

• Seagate decided to change names on much of its enterprise data to "Exos" Some specs have changed. Mostly just name for marketing purposes, from the best I can tell. I still need to update more in this area. Will take some time
