Disapearing File, Data Still Present

I misunderstood what the zfs list -t snapshot was telling me. I thought they were all snapshots.

The manual-20200223 Snapshot was taken the around 24 hours after the file disappeared. Because, that was when I realized I hadn't had Snapshots running so I manually implemented on then.

So I think this might put us back to square one, since there isnt a snapshot.

We still have the question of the missing space...

Definitely.
Can you just confirm that I'm reading this correctly. When it says 1.6TB that is the amount of space currently being used, is that correct?

Because if I am reading it right then that the same amount of space is being used as it was before the folder went missing. ie, the contents is still there.

Then the question is asked, if I cant role back a snapshot to retreave the folder how do you recommend attempting to recover the data?

There was only one snapshot that appeared when i ran that command so I just navigated a few layers deeper to show whats there:

I cant navigate into it and it doesn't appear to hold anything...

Could it be a file from when I tried to set up a 'shairing' port so I could access these files on my Windows laptop? (it was ages ago and I never got it working)

Can you do the du -sh again on all the subdirectories and see if it adds up in the snapshot?

Was this what you ment? it says its 1.6TB
freenas shapshot size.png

Then I confirmed that by adding all the indovidual file sizes
Freenas snapshot files.png

which adds up to just over 1.6TB... so ive made an error somewhere. ether the files that existed under kids now exists under one of these folders or the files are no longer on the system.
