Different size memory modules

I have Supermicro X11SCH-F board with one 16GB RAM module. I've noticed that either prices went down significantly or an anomaly on the local market, and 32GB variant of what I have can be had for roughly the same price.
I can't find an answer in the manual and I've never tried this, so a question:
Will/should different capacity memory modules (which are otherwise identical in parameters) in one channel work without problems?

The board only works with unbuffered, so I'm screwed it seems. Why the UDIMMs stop at 16GB capacity I have no idea.

Good luck buying that anywhere. From what I read, 32GB UDIMMs are pretty new, and currently only Samsung has some.

They aren't even on Ebay, and even less so in this banana country :D
