I started doing a disk replace with a old-ish HDD that I had spare as one was degraded with ~1.5k CKSUM
Now that the resilver has started the error count is climbing and the old-ish drive is throwing unreadable (pending) sectors
I have backups of important data on another box, just not the jails

You might be better off removing/offlining (if you can) the failing drive while the resilver completes from the remaining good side of the mirror.

It's not clear if the permanent error means that the copy on the good side of the mirror is also gone (which would be kind of the opposite of the whole point of ZFS... perhaps this was already damaged somehow and just not yet picked up by a scrub?)

Well finally got a new disk to resilver the mirror
Result:
Code:
root@freenas:~ # zpool status -v IronWolf
  pool: IronWolf
 state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data
        corruption. Applications may be affected.
action: Restore the file in question if possible. Otherwise restore the
        entire pool from backup.
   see: http://illumos.org/msg/ZFS-8000-8A
  scan: resilvered 1.56T in 0 days 05:21:15 with 150 errors on Sat Oct 19 18:11:48 2019
config:

        NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
        IronWolf DEGRADED 0 0 1.41K
          mirror-0 DEGRADED 0 0 5.61K

errors: Permanent errors have been detected in the following files:

        IronWolf/Media:<0x0>

Still cant offline the disk that I resilvered
Code:
[MiddlewareError: Disk offline failed: "cannot offline /dev/gptid/7a8be22e-979d-11e8-a256-94de80b75a94: no valid replicas, "]

What is with the <0x0>, the non -v would suggest 150 files?
Code:
errors: 150 data errors, use '-v' for a list

What are my options now?

Well, I removed the Dataset and re-scrubbed and all errors have now gone, Not really what I wanted but I do but I do have a backup of the Media Dataset so nothing should be lost
