hi
i like to run freenas at work here is my hardware

Dell server PE2950 with 4GB ram (3TB) SAS raid5
Dell Server R-710 With 4GB ram (8TB) SAS raid5
Dell 3x MD1000 (8TB-15TB-26TB) SATA raid5
Dell MD3000 (4TB) SAS raid5

i try boot from usb freenas 8.0.1 stuck in "fd0" this pe2950

can i use FreeNAS for Work and what i can add to be more
save SSD boot from SAS drive need help ASAP

Make sure that you have enabled at least one Serial Port in the BIOS System Management Section.

This is a Dell issue

It fixes the FD0 hang

As far as boot, Best thing is a USB Flash. The boot time is not that long and putting the OS on the fastest media does not increase it significantly.

I know that USB Dongle kinda goes against the IT grain but it works.

I am fighting with a PE2950 and PERC 6/E with FreeNAS, but it is worth the fight........

If I had the budget (Which I don't), I would have gone with Nexenta Core (Commercial). It gets expensive US$4-5K for 20-30TB but has a great interface and ZFS support that is better than Freenas (by which I mean that it implements more advanced features, not the quality of the implementation.

HOWEVER

On a price /performance basis I am not convinced.

If you can, let me know how it goes
