Not sure the best place to share this, but vmware dropping vmklinux drivers for esx7.0 force me to look around for alternatives to my h310s flashed to LSI firmware. It appears someone who is willing to share has found and simplified a way to flash dell "mini" cards to lsi IT firmware and not have the system halt when booting. I've moved my 2 node vsan hosts from flashed h310 fulls to the integrated h710p's using his method. Would have saved me ~$100 in parts across my hosts and freenas box to have used the integrated cards at the time and it solves my vmware issue as the 710s flash to sas 2308 which has a native vmware driver (mpt3sas I think). https://fohdeesha.com/docs/perc/
I'll be giving it a go on my freenas machine in the next few days but if it is making vsan happy I can't imagine freenas would not be able to use it as well.
