Hi,

i buy dell perc h310 to extend number of disk.
When i try flash to LSI IT - but have error: Firmware Download Failure!

instruction from site: https://tylermade.net/2017/06/27/ho...-lsi-9211-8i-firmware-hba-for-freenas-unraid/
files download from: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6mtie10d9ud6675/LSI-9211-8i.zip/file

Rufus and bootable pendrive => Ok!

Step 1: megacli.exe -AdpAllInfo -aAll -page 20 => Ok!, found address
Step 2: megarec.exe -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin => Ok, no errors or fails, Chip is in Fusion Mode
Step 3: megarec.exe -cleanflash 0 => Ok!
Reboot
Step 4: sas2flsh.exe -o -f 6GBPSAS.fw => Error!
Firmware Download Failure! Exiting Sas2Flash.

Restored Dell Firmware: https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2014/06/13/revert-your-perc-h310-back-to-its-dell-firmware/
Try again and the same, restore again.

File 6GBPSAS.FW is in the root folder on pendrive?
Why sas2flash don't see orcas import this file?
Any idea or help?

Yes, pendrive 2 GB...

Maybe firmware on H310 is too old and i can't install latest version (P20)?
I don't know where is problem, do everything with instruction.

Hi Kazix,
I know it won't help but it seems I have the exact same failure.
Was following advices from https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2014/07/14/the-dell-perc-h310-to-lsi-9211-8i-it-video/ the video and the update (including the 6gbps update via uefi)
this version includes a reboot, as your instruction.
I was performing this update with 4 and 16 GB usb stick.

my major concern comes from this tutorial... https://nguvu.org/freenas/Convert-LSI-HBA-card-to-IT-mode/
it states clearly: "Its CRITICAL at this stage you do not reboot the machine or you will leave the HBA card in a unrecoverable state."
ok instructions are slightly different but it means that a serious risk when rebooting...
I'm puzzled!

any chance to recover the card? any chance to backup firm from another and to flash it onto the rebel card ?
sorry for these newbie questions

nota, i made all downloads from broadcom website
https://docs.broadcom.com/docs/9211_8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip

Download files and trying again:
- 8 GB pendrive,
- restored default firmware (FW2657A.rom)
- step 1, 2, 3...
- the same problem in the same place: Firmware Download Failure!

This is picture from BIOS and first page from -AdpAllInfo
maybe you see something.

i try on different computer, maybe this is problem.
maybe with UEFI will be working.

always good to try !

i tried both, with same results.
seems card lost address and i cannot, dunno how, push new one despite the broadcom documentation
can't even access its bios !
probably to push new one as well

another source of questions... the versions !
even from broadcom it is not up to date

OMG - insert this H310 to new machine and everything go like in instruction (without UEFI)
Everywhere is Success!

For children and grandchildren: Test and flash on new machine.
I tested od HP ML 350 G5 - not worked.

i don't have disk yet, how to check that this controller is ok and FreeNAS see them correctly?

pciconf -lv give me something like this:
mps0@pci0:9:0:0: class=0x010700 card=0x1f1c1028 chip=0x00721000 rev=0x03hdr=0x00 vendor = 'LSI Logic / Symbios Logic' device = 'SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon]' class = mass storage subclass = SAS

its OK?

Yes, everything is OK, i connected 4 disks (4 TB) to this controller and FreeNAS see properly each disk separately.

da - FreeNas see them as SCSI disk
