My question is can a 100gbe/Chelsio T62100-LP-CR be saturated by freenass. Im just a home hobbyist playing around with hard ware.
My current system.
2x intel 2643 v2
192gb ram
Intel xl710. Iperf says 13gbs throughput.
3 pools
4x8tb in raid 10
8x4tb in raid 10
4x1tb ssd striped easily maxes out the current network.

So just for fun if i punched the 100gbe network cards is there any possibility off achieving better performance.

Thought i might add that im using a window server 2016 machine over smb for file transfers. I have also used icsi for file transfers its abit faster. And if its viable i will switch back to that.

no, not really. to much protocol overhead. more then 20gigbit screams for rdma or iser.

both is not available on FN.

I run a small nvme environment (8x optane 900p, 4x P4600, all as mirrors)
a base centos with zfs wirhout iser has about 7times more IOs then freenas. iser enabled (mellanox) card is about 20x more ios. I will post details later.

I was thinking rdma was going to be needed. And even did some searching to see if freenas supported it. Didn't come up with any thing.
Im super glad i posted first. Save me a ton off money. I will just have to find a different project to work. If you have time I would like to hear more about what your talking about there.

Also anyone who stubble on this post should know i easily get 1200mb to 1400mb reads and writes. (Your mileage may vary) Witch is more then fast enough for any home user. Im only looking for bleeding edge technology. Freenas is a well built distro. Just not Enterprise level with all the newest and fastest super cool stuff.
