I'm trying to update FreeNAS to a newer version. From 11.2-U2.1 to 11.2-U4.1. FreeNAS displays this dialog box:

Because of this error FreeNAS is unable to continue the update process. Any tips on how to fix this?

save config and reinstall. Could have been done by the time you created this post.

Of course. I was too focused on fixing when a fresh install was the solution!!! Thank you!

Yeah freenas does not require a reinstall under normal circumstances. I have upgraded since 9.1.1 with the same USB device. Normally these issues appear because of something the user has done and not realized the side affects of their actions.

Too soon. I did a fresh install of 11.2-U2.1 and after that uploaded my configuration backup (which has version 11.2-U2.1 in its filename) . Then I went for the 11.2-U4.1 and got this error. Same problem in a different location. Although both errors start with /usr/local/.
Before this I tried to do a fresh install of 11.2-U4.1 and a configuration upload but got all kinds of errors in the terminal screen of the server. Maybe some data got corrupted due to an improper shutdown/restart a few weeks back and therefore the configuration I backed up got corrupted too. Alert:
The boot volume state is DEGRADED: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data corruption. Applications may be affected.
