In frenas 7 I was able to figure out how to set a static address to my desired IP (192.168.2.130) but having difficulty with frenas 8. Can some one walk me through the process via the GUI I am a bit confused.

I am not sure, but I think you should do this via the console. There you choose 1 (Configure Network Interfaces), say "no" to dhcp and enter your desired ip address.

GUI -> Network -> Global Configuration -> Interfaces -> Edit (select the interface you want to change)
- un-tick DHCP
- enter IP address

Tekkie, for me there are no interfaces available there. The only interface I have is the one created when I originally configured freenas (from the console). That interface is not available from the gui. Is yours?
A bug?

Are you saying that the interfaces screen doesn't show a single NIC?

Can you run the interface config from the console and let it do a DHCP configuration and then try again?
