Hey folks:
I am having persistent CAM status: Command timeout errors and I need some advice on what to do. Following advice on this forum, I have replaced the power supply, RMA'd the drives, upgraded the case to a hot swap server enclosure and I am still receiving the errors so I am thinking it's a bad motherboard/SATA controller problem now. When I installed the new case it came with new locking SATA cable so they are all replaced.

My system:
  • SuperMicro X10sll-f with 16GB Ram
  • iStarUSA D-4-B350PL-RED Steel 4U Rackmount Server Case 5xSATA Hot-Swap (great case by the way)
  • Western Digital Black WDC WD5001FZWX-00A2VA0 5TB x 2
  • CORSAIR CX750M V2 (2017 Edition) Power Supply
  • FreeNAS-11.2-U6

Results of smartctl -a /dev/ada3&4:

So what do you think? Should I consider replacing the board or is there a way to upgrade the SATA controller?

Does the error move if you move it to a different sata port? If it doesn't then yes sounds like the port if it does well its something in the drive path. It sounds like you probably did try different ports but I am just throwing it out there.

I'm getting errors on both ada3 & ada4 which happen to be powering a pool. Could the pool be corrupt and causing the error?

its possible depending on the architecture that 3 and 4 are on the same sata controller so it could be the controller. CAM errors tend to be truly hardware type issues. On my old box when I was getting them it was a bad SATA controller. if your only getting those errors on those two drives I would try moving them to other ports if you have any available. If the error stays its probably the controller, if it moves it could be the drives since you said you changed the cables... seems strange they would both be giving the error to me that does potentially point to a controller problem.
