FreeNAS Community,

I wanted to take a moment and give you a quick heads up that we’re in the process of migrating our bug tracker from Redmine to Jira, and have scheduled the cut-over to be on April 5th. What does this mean for you? Apart from a shiny new UI when reporting / discussing issues and features with our engineering team, we’ll also be gaining the ability to attach private debugs/files to public tickets, as well as a voting system, to indicate your support for a feature or ticket.

Other changes will be less obvious to the public, but will help us greatly enhance our workflows and hopefully save time in the effort to bring you higher quality FreeNAS releases.

Before we make this change, a couple things to make you aware of:

  1. Users will be migrated, but passwords will not. The first time you attempt to login, you will need to use the “Forgot Password” link to set a new password on your account.
  2. In order to keep the new tracker a bit less cluttered, and preserve history, we only intend to migrate open tickets and tickets that are slated for an upcoming release. We will keep a read-only copy of the archived RedMine tickets around for reference, so don’t worry about any history being lost.

Thanks for reading, and please pardon any bumps while we make this change.
