Boot Drive?

Just saw these for 22 USD on Amazon. Good for boot drive and mirrored boot drive? I know they are overkill size wise.

Crucial BX500 120GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-Inch Internal SSD - CT120BX500SSD1

That's probably the best cheap new drive for a FreeNAS boot disk. As I recall these don't have a DRAM cache, so you're not leaving performance on the table by using it as a boot disk. Plus they more or less don't make 80 GB drives any more, so it's probably the smallest you can go realistically.

Note that there is a known issue with some Crucial drives which will result in corrupted files on those drives if TRIM is enabled on the system.

I am specifically aware of a connection with that problem and 3D NAND, so I would be cautious on this option.

You could look at the Kingston AS400s. I picked my on on amazon.ca for $25 Canadian long before Black Friday. 120GB is overkill but $25 each is about what I would pay for a good USB thumb drive...
