avahi and mDNS errors ?

I'm getting an error message that I'm not happy with... I'd like to find out why and how to resolve.

avahi-daemon[1815]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!

In searching for an answer, it seems that avahi is related to apple shares. I'm not using anything apple on my FN8.0.2 box yet so there is no need to configure AFP.
Is that correct ?

mDNS also seems related to this but I'm not completely sure.

Others have listed these messages in posts but I've located no solutions.
