I currently have an Adaptec Raid card on my server with 4x1.5TB drives in a raid 5 formatted with NTFS. I've been thinking about the idea of moving to FreeNAS from MS Server.

From what I've read, mounting and using a NTFS file system is not a good idea?

I was hoping to be able to use the raid as it is. Can anyone give me some solid advise?

Thanks, Walter

Correct, not recommended from what I recall.

No Hardware RAID is to be used. Hard drives should be connected to HBAs or the motherboard (SATA ports).

Not only "not a good idea", it's not possible. Or at least, it isn't possible through the web GUI--it could probably be done at the command line, but at that point you might as well just use vanilla FreeBSD.
