8.0.2-BETA2 /etc/rc.d/ldap not found

Using fresh install of 8.0.1-BETA2 I can't set the service LDAP to 'ON'. A manual ldapsearch on the shell returns results, but the nss configuration does not get rewritten to include ldap.

When closing the LDAP Settings window with 'ok' the following messages appear:

Since these messages are seen both on the working 8.0-RELEASE and failing 8.0.2-BETA2 it seems starting samba (which it does dependably when enabling ldap?) causes the real problem:
