FreeNAS Fans,
I’m pleased to officially announce the availability of FreeNAS 11.3-BETA1. This release comes nearly a year after debuting 11.2, but we believe it’s more than worth the wait. The iX team has been hard at work, not only to add new features, but also ensure that 11.3 is rock-solid reliable and the easiest to use FreeNAS ever. This release of 11.3-BETA1 marks the first opportunity you have to start testing out some of the new functionality, while we march towards a 11.3-RELEASE in the coming months. Of course, as with any pre-release, please ensure you’re using it on non mission-critical systems and data and follow best-practices for backups.
Here’s a quick look at some of the high-level highlights from this release, keeping in mind that the software has seen improvements across the board.
11.3-BETA links are now active on our FreeNAS download page. Users running 11.2-U6 can update to 11.3-BETA one by using the command “# freenas-update -T FreeNAS-11.3-BETA update” from the CLI. When 11.2-U7 releases in the next few weeks the UI option for changing trains to 11.3-BETA1 will also become available.
Please send us feedback here or via our Ticketing System.
Thanks and happy testing!
