There's no need for CP to access the storage in the torrents-directory. When you add a movie from CP it gets send automatically to transmission.
You could however put torrent-files in the torrent-directory and transmission would pick them up.
How does it know to open it if its not using transmissions watch dir?

The watch directory is for manually adding torrents without using CouchPotato.

For normal use, CP communicates directly with transmission to tell it what to grab. In particular, the RPC port (9091 in the OP) is where transmission listens for communication from other applications. As long as you followed the guide and told CP to talk on the same port you told transmission to listen on then it should all work automatically.

Ah, the post I was replying to was the only one on the page and I didn't go back to get the context... The answer should be the same though, Deluge will also have a port it is listening on, you just need to find that in your configuration and set it in CouchPotato the same way the OP shows.

Make sure you're using the daemon port (58846 by default) the port(s) meant for actual torrent traffic.

Are you seeing anything telling you how it fails? The CP and/or Deluge logs may give some hints.

Yea I was using 58846. CP wasn't saying much in the logs and deluge just wouldn't work with black hole, it was fine using a watch folder.

Hey! I used this guide to get going with my setup. Everything was working all fine, or atleast that was what I thought. But then corrupt downloads started popping up in Transmission. "Verify local data", and if I try to do that, nothing happens. I tried doing verify local data on a couple of fully working torrents. But then I noticed that some of them wasn't fully downloaded at all. Some were 1% some were 25%. I'm pretty certain they got downloaded at some point, but something is messing it up.

Nobody else having this issue?

The 1% download seems to indicate a permissions problem. Did you make sure that you used 777?

Got both cp, sr and transmission set to 777, so no, don't think that's it. And I've seen the permissions thing before, it's not the same. Here it's more like the download finishes, and then it's not anymore.

Thanks to the guide I was able to setup everything. The problem is that I sometimes add torrents manually via the remote transmission app but I want that after the download is done it should go into another download folder so it does not interact with the post processing of couchpotato.
Unfortunately I could not find a way to tell transmission to download a torrent to a different folder.
I added another dataset to the transmission jail and when I add the torrent via webgui or transmission remote I choose the other mapped folder but transmission seems to ignore it and places the torrent in the same "default" download folder I put in the tranmission setting (where it gets messed up by the post processing scripts of cp and sickrage)

Any ideas?

yea thanks, I fixed it. It was a permission problem even when I set the permission of the new dataset to 777 I had to manual set the mapped folder of the jail to 777 so that in the end transmission was able to move the downloaded content to that folder.

I'm following the guide to install transmissions. But, I'm stuck at step where I need to modify settings. In my case the following folder is empty:
/usr/pbi/transmission-amd64/etc/transmission/home

Any ideas why? It has to be something simple.

In this thread, people say that it is not longer necessary to update this settings file anymore.
And settings file now is located in the different folder.
Can someone confirm this? Also maybe the guide should be updated too.

Yes, you're right and I updated the post accordingly.
I'm going to update the whole guide in the coming days/weeks, too!

Could you also include instruction on including Open VPN to the jails for anonymous browsing?

BTW can someone tell me if my router support OpenVPN should I just use it? Or setting up OpenVPN inside FreeNas is a better approach?

OpenVPN puts a workload on your router. Might as well install to the jail vs impacting all traffic through the router unless you have a really nice router that will handle the traffic. Im using an archer c7 v2 and I opted to use openVPN on the jail.
