We're dedicated to tailoring servers to the exact needs of our clients to provide a targeted and unique product and customer experience. iXsystems delivers these custom-built Linux and BSD servers, as well as preconfigured servers and scalable storage solutions, to our customers around the globe.
The iXsystems team includes experienced leaders and engineers in the Internet server industry. Our team has years of experience in developing Internet infrastructure-grade solutions and provisioning Internet datacenters and global service networks. We offer exceptional hardware support, as well as FreeBSD and PC-BSD software support. We also offer custom development and advanced-level FreeBSD consulting solutions, including kernel tuning and system optimization, device driver creation, kernel, userland, and embedded systems development, and a host of other services.
The people, products, customers, and quality have all been here since our beginnings as Telenet Systems in 1996. We changed our name to BSDi in 2000, and have been iXsystems, Inc. since 2002. Our dedication to providing outstanding service and products remains unwavering.

Open source operating systems offer high levels of security, flexibility, and performance. As a result, the majority of iXsystems' customers embrace open source hardware solutions. “Open Source Hardware Design” is the iXsystems trademark. iXsystems builds custom hardware soutions that address a company's technical and budgetary needs within their specific network architecture.
Finding the right hardware that is compatible with the software solution that will achieve the customer's goals is of critical importance. iXsystems pre-tests configurations to verify their compatibility with the desired OS in order to ensure that the customer doesn't encounter compatibility problems with the OS post-deployment. Many hardware components don't just automatically work when paired with open source software. At iXsystems, our open source professionals overcome such obstacles and engineer drivers to eliminate this worry for our clients.

FreeBSD/PC-BSD Software Support:
iXsystems offers 24x7 Professional Enterprise Service Level Support and 8x5 Desktop Level Support with same day/next day prioritized responses. The iXsystems Professional Services team is comprised of knowledgable FreeBSD and PC-BSD gurus, willing to share their knowledge and wisdom with the open source community. Their expertise in the use of open source operating systems allows them to effectively solve any problems our customers may have using open source software.
FreeBSD Development Efforts:
iXsystems has supported the FreeBSD community for years, and employs and partners with some of the most brilliant FreeBSD developers. iXsystems is reimplementing FreeNAS, an embedded open source Network-Attached Storage (NAS) distribution, to take advantage of modern FreeBSD features like ZFS. iXsystems has also hosted the FreeBSD Project's Quality Assurance Tinderbox (QAT) within the FreeBSD ports infrastructure for several months, and recently updated the existing QAT server hardware.
